We spearheaded many initiatives to reduce users’ friction with our many products, both internal and guest facing. On the guest facing front one thing remained true, regardless of how intuitive your products may be there may still come a time where guests hit a snag and will need support. In e-commerce, specifically, this builds a case for maintaining a robust customer support network. This is where I made my contribution: IBT, an updated set of internal booking tools for use in RCI’s call centers. Royal already boasted a well-oiled support system, with agents speedily attending to and solving every caller’s need, but the tools they worked with were numerous and already showing their age. Juggling several applications at a time to perform one task, this could cost the call center agents precious seconds, particularly during the busier parts of the year. Remaining online while out at sea can pose many challenges but, at the very least, at Royal Caribbean the one we strove to eliminate the complexity of connecting for our guests. By the time I arrived at Royal, the Captive Portal was already deployed in a number ships in the fleet. People were already purchasing and activating their internet packages in droves, planning their vacations with the app on board. Segura Viudas is a sister brand of Freixenet’s, also produced in Catalonia, Spain. Before joining Republica Havas, the team had created a landing page to introduce Segura Viudas to the US market. Phase 1 had two tracks to it. First was streamlining the booking process through Universal’s guest-facing products (responsive web platform and native applications). This included park tickets, hotel booking, vacation packages and in-park functions (itineraries, ride wait times, etc). The following screens were intended for an OTT VOD platform with additional support for Linear TV functionality that was designed initially for the LATAM market, with the scope eventually increased to target Europe.The platform was architected in 2013/14 and built in Q2 2014 to take advantage of the latest in at-scale technologies, designs and vendors.
